Artfully claiming their flawed Casino Compact with the Commonwealth needs to be "renegotiated" Cedric Cromwell has written the faithful followers of his tribal missives today announcing the Bureau for Indian Affairs (BIA) has a problem with their application. This is the second time a Cromwell application for Land in Trust has been rejected by BIA and the second time Cedric has failed to "notify" his local government partners.
Taunton - we have a problem and don't say we didn't warn you! Like his past rejection when his Middleboro partners learned about BIA's ruling from the local papers, Taunton officials can read about it in the Boston Globe as ole Cedric has been apparently sitting on this information until 4 p.m. on a Friday to let the world know and Mayor Hoye and our dutiful council appear to have been caught by surprise by this announcement as well.
This should be the final nail in the coffin for this latest casino scheme as the Mass Gaming Commission can no longer claim the tribe has successfully negotiated a compact with the state and has what it takes to get BIA approval for the required land in trust needed for their Indian casino complex. We're well past the deadline set by the legislature and it's time to say bye bye Cedric.
Don't say we didn't warn you this would happen (over and over and over).
Well, Ceddie, whatcha gonna do now?
ReplyDeleteThe repo man commeth...
I think its time to go back to Dorchester and leave the MWT in peace, not pieces. For those who live in reality know that ANY casino will never be built in MASS, both CT casinos are laying off folks, Vegas is imploding and the public(who works, not on the dole)has very little money to gamble.Build a school in Mashpee that will help the kids and supply real honest jobs for the MWT. A resort destination? I have been to 44 states and a half dozen countries, please tell me where Taunton is cause I do not have a clue?
ReplyDeleteYou will get one once th ecasino is built LOL, timmy:)
DeleteTry telling it to the Peqout who crashed as a tribe when Foxwoods crashed. Never build your homes on a shaky foundation...
Deletecin an....unclear on one point. The state/tribe compact is rejected, I know...but are you saying the LiT app is rejected ss well?? Sorry for my confusion ... keep going!
ReplyDeleteThe current LIT application is REJECTED because of flaws in the State Compact. You cannot have a LIT application without a valid and BIA approved State compact. There are other aspects of the LIT application that were not yet reviewed (i.e., the Mashpee claims to have required but non-existent historical and current ties to Taunton) as the BIA only needed one flawed aspect to reject the application. Now, there is nothing preventing the tribe from continuing to file new applications... and continuing to be rejected. At some point the state, Taunton, BIA, et al will have to say shame on you for fooling me once, but shame on us for fooling us twice, thrice, etc....
ReplyDeletethis compact was set to fail and Cedric Cromwell and his Council were too stupid to see it,all they saw were their paychecks,What are they going to see when Genting walks and says pay up,were in the Gaming business not the Lending business. Oh and Aaron Tobey great negotiator.
ReplyDeleteThe LIT application was rejected for its own flaws---it was incomplete, and poorly written. If I were the person at BIA reading it, I would have been almost insulted that Cromwell & Co. would think that I would give a positive response. This whole charade has been all about the jobs and paychecks of Cromwell and his cronies, the interests of the Tribe are secondary and incidental. And they vilify the "previous administration."
ReplyDeleteUnder the previous administrations, the Tribe gained federal recognition against all odds, and in the face of other tribes taking the easy route. The petition for federal recognition was a masterpiece---the best documentation of a tribal history and genealogy ever---that prompted the BIA to tell other tribes seeking recognition to "follow the Mashpee." Oh how far we have fallen.
This administration has subjected us to ridicule and derision. Our only solution is to remove the problem by removing those who have caused the problem. There is an election coming up, but I would urge that they be run out before then so we can rebuild our reputation and good will.
Ebenezer....are we just assuming that the LiT app is rejected because the Compact was rejected? Ceddie and Hoye-boy are saying they are two seperate things. Did the BIA send a rejection notice on the LiT??
DeleteWhere are the Tribe's great PR people that they paid 500.000+ to ? They need help now to spin this around.I am not a Tribal member but I do know that this Tribe has serious problems .
ReplyDeleteCedric Cromwell and Aron must understand this that the feds stepped in to save the Mashpee community because Tribal council sold their own people elders and children out.
ReplyDeleteIts as easy as that...4 more months....vote for real Mashpee not fake Mashpee
I hope all the Tribal Member's read the Mashpee Enterprise to see what Cedric and this Council are doing to them.
ReplyDeleteCedric, Aaron, Marie, and Markie have sold our tribe down the river, and the sooner we throw them out on their arses the better.

No LIT means no Sovereign Immunity...
Has anyone read the BIA letter to Mashpee? It refers to the previous compact between Massachusetts and poor old Aquinnah! You remember them??? The ones Patrick has refused to meet with because his Commissioner said not to...
ReplyDeleteappear to have been caught by surprise by this announcement as well.
